How to Replace Your Car's Gear Box

The car gearbox is an important part of the car transmission system, which functions to transfer engine power to the vehicle wheels. A damaged gearbox can prevent the car from moving or moving smoothly. If your car's gearbox has a problem, then a gearbox replacement may be necessary. Replacement Process

1. Turn off the car engine and open the hood. Disconnect the battery cable to avoid electrical hazard.

2. Lift the car using the jack and place a jack stand underneath to support the car.

3. Look for the gearbox under the car. The gearbox is usually located near the engine, under the car.

4. Remove the cables, clutch cables and gear cables connected to the gearbox. Make sure to take good note of how each cable connects to the gearbox.

5. Remove the gearbox mount from the car using a socket wrench and a spanner. Be sure to support the gearbox when removing it so you don't fall and damage the car or get injured.

6. Install the new gearbox the same way you removed the old gearbox. Be sure to apply lubricant to gearbox components that require lubrication.

7. Reattach the cables, clutch cables, and gear cables correctly according to your previous notes.

8. Lower the car from the jack stand and return the battery cables. Make sure the car is on level ground before starting the engine.

9. Check if the car can move smoothly and do a road test to make sure the gearbox is working properly.
